When Axes to Ashes was first conceptualised, we wanted to give people the opportunity to participate in fun, engaging and inclusive activities. The forefront of the idea was axe throwing; as you don't need to be 8 feet tall, you don't need to be able to Bench-Press 300kg, you don't need to be able to run 100m in less than 10 seconds... You just need a bit of patience, consistency and guidance.
Axes to Ashes has tutored thousands of people over the years and as we count down to our 3rd year anniversary in May, we are super proud to officially announce the launch of our first fixed axe throwing venue based in the historic town of Colne, Lancashire!
The Axes to Ashes: Axe Imperium is opening within The Fun House of Colne, King Street, Colne, BB8 9HU on Saturday 15 March 2025!
What makes us different to other axe throwing venues?
Well, the Axe Imperium is beautiful yet functional. Yes, the throwing range is set within an old market hall which was built 100 years ago and has concrete floors and exposed orange steelwork with a degraded facade. However, nestled within this grand historic building is an oasis of burnt wooden cladding with splashes of orange, red, white and black; taken from the Axes to Ashes logo. There is rustic oak worktops highlighted by soft, warm accent lighting, contrasting with UV blue hues from the lanes.
The ceiling is soft and padded creating a cosy inviting space but rising up to the top of the throwing lanes; revealing the grand 5m height at the far end.
The 5m height is very much what sets the Axe Imperium apart from other similar venues. We have the head-room to throw our large Tomahawks safely.
Safety is our Number 1 priority, closely followed by our guests having an amazing time.
The Axe Imperium is a space designed to bring friends, family and work colleagues together. Where memories are made whilst participating in a fun, inclusive sport; protected against what the British weather can throw at us, whilst wrapped up in a cosy environment.
Furthermore, the newest member of the Axes to Ashes team, is the UKAT (Axe and Knife Throwing) World Champion Kali Tattersall, who will be bringing support to both axe throwing coach, Ben Lloyd, and Andy Fletcher the Founder and Managing Director of Axes to Ashes.
Further into 2025 there are plans for the construction of a smokehouse at the Axe Imperium; with slow-cooked beef brisket and ribs on the menu, alongside delicious Vegan and Gluten Free options too.
Andy Fletcher wants the Axe Imperium to become a venue for all, from inquisitive young children enjoying birthday parties doing something new, through to strangers having their very first date night.
And we've not even touched on the ideas planned for Christmas!
